Oro, Oro, Oro!

(I recently sent out an update but in case you missed it, you can find it here!)

We have now arrived in Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea, this is the first year the Medical Ship has crossed that border and we are excited for what’s in store.

We received a beautiful welcome in Uiaku, Oro Province.  The word Oro means Welcome and they live up to their name!

Harald, a PNG Dental Therapist, joined the Ship to work in the Dental Clinic with us.  We were able to equip him with a fully solar powered dental chair that can help him reach the remote villages in Oro Province.  He is the only Dental Worker for 26,000 people in his region.

The man below has a condition causing his eyelids to droop very low interferring his ability to see.  Our Chief Engineer, Craig was able to hop off the ship to construct a pair of custom made glasses to help him out.

and a few more… just because!
